Richard is the Co-Founder, Chairman and CEO of Whipclip. Richard was the former Chairman and CEO of Demand Media, which he co-founded in May 2006 and took public on the NYSE in January 2011. Prior to founding Demand Media, Richard built, operated and sold several public and private high-profile Internet media companies. In February 2004, Richard became CEO of Intermix Media, Inc., where he led the growth of Myspace.com from an unknown web site into one of the most popular properties on the Internet, leading to the acquisition of Intermix by News Corporation in 2005. In 1994, Richard co-founded iMALL, one of the first Internet companies to recognize the power of user-generated content, offering a suite of tools that enabled users to build their own e-commerce stores and conduct transactions online. As Chairman and CEO, he sold iMALL to Excite@Home (controlled by AT&T) in 1999. Richard also previously served as Chairman of iCrossing, a leading digital marketing firm acquired by Hearst Corporation in 2010. A Southern California native, Richard holds a B.A. from UCLA, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, and a J.D. from USC Law School. Richard brings to Raine a wealth of digital media, internet and consumer experience and contacts that he will use to help Raine’s portfolio companies. In addition, he will work with the firm on identifying investment opportunities.
